Abigail Fiddler has been immersed in the world of dance since the age of two. She grew up training extensively across multiple disciplines, including Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Musical Theatre. Abigail attended Victoria School of the Arts, completing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Dance Composition Program, earning her Certificate and deepening her passion for choreography and performance.
Abigail is pursuing a degree in Kinesiology and Secondary Education at the University of Alberta, where she is expanding her knowledge of human movement, biomechanics, and injury prevention, foundations she believes are essential to supporting the long-term health and development of dancers.
Abigail discovered her love for teaching at just eleven years old, when she began assisting classes as a student teacher at her home studio. Since the age of sixteen, she has taught under the mentorship of her mother, Amanda Desousa, who continues to guide and inspire her journey as an educator.
Abigail holds her certification in the Junior Grades of the Classical Ballet Progressions of Canada, as well as Acrobatic Arts Module 1. She is currently working toward completing her Acrobatic Arts Module 2 certification to further support the technical and safe progression of her students.
Abigail has been fortunate to perform and train in major cities across North America, including Anaheim, Orlando, and New York City. Her performance credits include showcases at Disneyland, Disney World, and Universal Studios, with her most recent highlight being a performance on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland in 2023. She has also trained at renowned institutions such as Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and The Alvin Ailey School. Abigail has performed in a variety of local productions and community events throughout her home city, further enriching her connection to the local arts scene.
This will be Abigail's fifth year teaching at Team AAOD and hopes to inspire the next generation of dancers by sharing her experience, technical knowledge, and genuine love for the art of dance.
